PLANNING & DESIGN OF MULTI MODAL INTEGRATION AT STATIONS OF MUMBAI METRO LINE - 6, Mumbai (with UMTC)

The Mumbai Metro Rail Line 6 Project aims to improve Mumbai’s transport and traffic conditions through providing a modern metro system, featuring high-capacity, safe, and comfortable mode of transport. The Project will improve overall mobility of Mumbai’s urban population and promote economic growth through improving accesses to markets, workplaces, education, and health facilities. The Project will also improve quality of lives of the residents in Mumbai. Line 6 will provide the much needed rail-based connectivity between the western and eastern suburbs, and will contribute to an integrated public transport network in Mumbai. Eastern and western suburb residents will benefit immensely by this direct connectivity.

The success of any higher order transit system like Metro mainly depends on its connectivity and accessibility from and to various parts of the city. Since its alignment is along the major corridors of the city, its reach to all parts of the city is restricted. Multi Modal Integrated Transportation System explores the coordinated use of two or more modes of transport for fast, safe, convenient and comfortable movement of passengers in urban areas. It provides convenient and economical connection of various modes to make complete journey from origin to destination.
