D PARK, Noida

This competition-winning 17.5 acre park design concept focused on creating a "landmark" - destination park, which would cater to the recreational needs of the entire urban sector 62 of the city of Noida. The "D" shaped park situated at the culmination of the central vista axis in the overall layout plan was thought of as a series of experiences and events within the park. The edge design of the park was designed as peripheral promenade walk - outside the park boundary - the boundary being re - defined as a see through grill below the eye level of people walking on the promenade. The edge design allowed for people to be able to take walk and enjoy the landscape of the park without having to enter it. This was an important designed interface of the park with its surroundings. The main park had a very strong central axis which was kept more formal with the culmination at the amphitheatre and musical fountain.
The design of the park which had three main entrance plazas was conceived around creating different zones for different age groups. A active zone that had a boating lake, children's maze, food court, etc. and a passive zone which had attractions like the butterfly garden, yoga lawns, forest walk.
The design also responded to the park unique geometric layout by acknowledging all the radial roads hitting the curve and each of these was designed as an event.
